Silent Spring/Travel with Charley/1960s Comparasion Presentation
We have been reading selections from Rachel Carson's Silent Spring and John Steinbeck's Travels with Charley. Hard copies of both readings are available in class.
In conjunction with Silent Spring, you are to write a five paragraph, descriptive essay in which you describe the before and after of a landscape that has been altered by an environmental issue. This writing should be considered a formative, rough draft. Spelling and punctuation are not the focus. Vivid and clear description is. This rough draft should be turned in by Weds., May 22nd in order to be considered on-time.
Today, students worked on creating a short, group PowerPoint presentation. Groups choose either a geographical region, a city, an aspect of technology, music, film, or fashion. Groups then researched their topic in order to create a presentation which describes their chosen subject changed and evolved over the course of the 1960s. The presentation should be roughly three slides in length and is considered a formative project.
